America's next Minnesota Teen should be well-rounded, intelligent, and sincere.  The judges are looking for a fun girl who portrays the "girl-next-door" teen spirit, who is also mature enough to carry herself well in the public eye.

Challenge #1, Photo Session: 10%
Each delegate will have a professional photo session at the pageant.  There will be a hair and makeup artist present and a professional photographer who will take pictures and print them immediately.  There will not be a cost for this, as it is part of the overall competition score.  The photographer will choose the best photo of the delegate and submit that untouched photo to the judging panel to be evaluated.  This is worth 10% of the overall score.

Challenge #2, Interview: 30%
Each delegate will embark on a "go see" with at least 5 judges.  The judges are instructed to look for a teen who has the ability to communicate her thoughts and opinions effectively and with sincerity.  The interview is 10 minutes long -- 30 seconds for an opening introduction (optional), 8.5 minutes of questions and answers, and 1 minute for a closing statement (required).

Challenge #3, Talent: 15%
The delegate will have the option of performing a talent presentation with a maximum time limit of 2 minutes OR performing a spokesmodel (speech presentation) with a maximum time limit of 1 minute.  There are no limitations on the topic.

Challenge #4, Fitness Modeling: 15%
Contestants will model their choice of an age appropriate swimwear, one or two-piece.  The judges are looking for a girl who is physically fit, healthy in appearance, energetic, and who has a strong sense of self.

Challenge #5, Runway Modeling: 15%
The contestant will model an outfit of her choosing.  This should be an outfit that a teen could buy off the rack at a department store.  The outfit should reflect the personality of the contestant and should portray the fun teen spirit!  It should be age appropriate; no denim or high glitz attire will be permitted.

Challenge #6, Formalwear Modeling: 15%
The contestant will be judged on grace, elegance, and poise while modeling the evening gown of her choice.  All gowns must be floor length and age appropriate.
